Are you sometimes stressed just because you are somehow stuck or not knowing where to start? I’ve had this now and then since I’ve been traveling as a digital nomad. I worked out the following technique for myself to increase my work productivity. I’ll show you how you can work more productively with it.
How do I set the three daily goals?
The daily goals should be important, but also achievable. Think about the three most important things that are coming up today and that you are very likely to be able to work through. What would you like to have achieved at the end of the day? This can be dictated by the work, but it can also be a personal goal. There can also come a day when you are not so busy. Still, pick three things to do, no matter how small.
It is also important that you set your goals each day before you either go to work, start working, or even the night before. I built them into my morning routine. I get up at 6:30 a.m. and take half an hour to really wake up. I do half an hour of yoga at 7:00 a.m. and after taking a shower I sit outside with a cup of coffee and think about my three goals for the day.
There may also be times when you need to adjust the daily goals during the working day because something important has come up. That’s perfectly okay. Because it’s all about getting the three most important things done at the end of the day.
If the three daily goals are not for you, then try the Pomodoro Technique, which is more about time management.
Why does the 3-day goal technique make me work more productively?
- Defining the three most important daily goals gives a good overview of the entire working day. So there is a certain structure and I keep my main goals in sight throughout the day.
- Every time I check off one of the tasks, I feel really good. It makes me feel like I’m moving forward and working productively. The feeling of having already achieved an important goal of the day.
- Achieving “only” three goals is not that difficult. But since they were the most important daily goals, which I predefined, I will feel good at the end of the day, because I have achieved them all and thus have done a lot, even if there are a few smaller unfinished business Tasks are.
If you only managed to achieve two of three goals because you simply couldn’t control your time management or something came up, go for it simply move the unfinished business to one of your next daily goals.
Have you been dissatisfied with your job for a long time? Do something against it! Make the job search one of your priorities now and define, for example, setting up a job subscription as one of your 3 daily goals for today.
